Cryptocito Net is a scam crypto trading platform that’s using the same branding as a popular social media commentator to trick people into parting with their cash.

The platform claims to offer a range of trading programs which include free trading signals for those who’ve signed up to an account and deposited cash.

But the platform is fake and effectively a shell design to mimic a genuine crypto exchange designed to attract investors.

Victims are often being directed to the platform by people who’ve made contact with them on social media. They may have struck up a romantic relationship with the person who’s now using emotional blackmail to get them to invest.

Once the victim has sent money to Cryptocito Net it appears as if the investment is doing well, but if they try to withdraw their funds they’ll find their account blocked.

How to spot the Cryptocito Net scam

There are lots of things that gives this platform away, including:

• A simple, one page cookie-cutter design containing very little content.
• Numerous grammatical and spelling errors across the site.
• No information about the company or where it’s located.
• Dead links throughout the platform.
• No official app store apps to download.
• The domain name has been registered in Iceland – a common tactic of scammers.
• The domain name is also very new (2024) despite the platform claiming the business was established in 2013.
• No regulatory or licensing information.
• None of the expected trading informational pages, or financial products you’d expect on a legitimate exchange.
• The social media links lead to the channels of a popular commentator rather than channels related to the site.
