Depop-eu Scam Ecommerce Store: Fake Site Is Designed To Resemble Real Platform

Depop-eu is a more advanced crypto scam whereby victims are tricked into sending USDT (Tether) to a platform where they’re told they can earn money through an e-commerce system.

Just to clarify from the start, Depop-eu is in no way connected with the legitimate Depop fashion retailer.

The scam site is deliberately set up to resemble the genuine site, although there are many things wrong with it that make it easy to spot.


The victim of the Depop-eu scam who contacted The Crypto Adviser, explained:

“I got scammed and lost 6240,42 USDT to this via a Tron address for the website.

“They got in touch with me on Tinder and tried to be my friend and explain an e-commerce system that they earn a lot with it.

“They helped me to join the website and help me to send my money to this website for my store orders.

“I understand that I got scammed after they ask more money for them to give my money back. I didn’t send more anymore.”

Crypto scams usually take the form of an exchange or trading platform so Depop-eu is certainly something different that you need to look out for.

How can I tell Depop-eu is a scam?

The site design resembles a bone fide ecommerce site, and more effort has gone into its design than is often the case with scam platforms.

However, there are still certain things that give it away, including:

  • A very new domain name and a Domain Authority (DA) or 1, meaning it gets very little traffic or links.
  • The attempt to copy a well-known brand, including a logo which is a close representation of the legitimate site is clearly dubious.
  • The use of English and grammar is sketchy across the site.
  • Many of the internal links lead to a ‘terms and conditions’ pop-up.
  • The ‘about’ page takes you to the genuine Depop website, as do the social media links.
  • No reviews online, other than reports of this site being a scam.

There’s plenty here that points to this platform being a fake platform attempting to confuse visitors by imitating a legitimate site.

I’ve been scammed by the fake Depop-eu platform, what can I do?

To start with, you should report what’s happened to the police in your country.

It can be difficult for them to do anything, especially as the scammers go to great lengths to hide their identities.
