Every week I’m contacted by people who’ve fallen victim to one cryptocurrency scam or another. Some have lost relatively small amounts of money, while others have been conned out of huge sums.

Crypto scams come in all shapes and sizes and are constantly evolving which is why it’s harder than ever to spot the genuine crypto platforms from the avalanche of fake ones.

Our experience over the years allows us to quickly to spot a crypto scam and write about it here to stop you becoming a victim to it.


The common theme seems to be a lack of understanding about how crypto works and how to spot the legitimate platforms designed for investors to buy their coins. Also, it’s important to always do your research.

How to spot a fake crypto exchange, platform or app

Some fake sites are better than others, but there are often a few things that will give them away.

If you know what to look out for you’re arming yourself against the scammers.

As I’ve said above, the number one rule is to do your research before signing up to anything. The second rule is to go with your gut – if it doesn’t feel right or the profits claimed are too good to be true, walk away.
